Nose of bubblegum, with solvent/acetone.  Smells rather rummy.  On the palate is cotton candy and mild spice, followed by moderate tannins.  It's a rather basic, down-the-middle, not-too-daring and kinda plain whisky.  That's not to say it's bad, because it's a fine sipper and would appeal to the folks who, well, just don't like a whole lot going on in their expensive scotch (I'm talking to you, Johnnie Blue "connoisseurs").  There's not a lot to say about this, which probably says the most about it.  B/B-

A boring sleeper.  Glen Spey has found a way to make a blend without adding grain whisky.  Congrats.

Retaste 7/09: Musty palate with a hint of sweetness.  Still a B-.
