Massively rich, deep, delightful bourbon. Watch that ABV! This is one of those super-strength bourbons that I actually prefer on the rocks. Hey, I bought it, I can do whatever I want with it. 61.3% VersionA-
Lots of Bit O' Honey, peanut brittle, caramels and toffee and a nectary character. I thought Stagg was my favorite bourbon, but I put this head-to-head with the 2007 version and I almost like it more. Whereas the Stagg is a kick-in-the-butt of intense flavor, this is still richly flavored yet somehow sweeter and lighter at the same time. Get whatever is left of this now. 64.8% Version A
N: Red liquorice, brown sugar, nectary, some minty wood, rancio, musk. P: Thick and mouth coating, very drinkable at 61%, figs and molasses, lip smacking, more liquorice, grape. F: Light mint. This is a real tasty bourbon.
Has a nose of chewy old whiskey, very distinct nose of an aged Heaven Hill Bourbon, similar to a really good Elijah Craig 18, but with some sweetness. The taste has more youth, caramel with hints of oak but nothing too much with a full, very lush mouthfeel. This is a beautiful, very balanced whiskey. Water brings out some more medicinal notes as well as some herbal qualities but I prefer it neat.
This whiskey came out with a bang and set up great expectations for the series. After three editions of Parker's Heritage, though, this is still my favorite of the lot. [61.3%]
n: Toffee and caramel popcorn. Cinnamon roll bread dough with a hint of mint and maple syrup. Candied cinnamon almonds fresh & hot at the county fair. Very inviting and deep and I can't wait to taste.
t: Thick buttermilk pancakes with walnuts and maple syrup. Heavy wood influence that makes for a very appealing and a creamy burnt vanilla aspect to this. Midway is dark brown sugar and peanut brittle. Doughy and delicious - reminds me of Christmas cookies.
Excellent savoury bourbon with a finish that doesn't stop.
