Initial is syrupy and sweet with a nice body full of ash and then plastic (phenols) notes appearing in middle. This has a floral/perfumey aspect (probably from european oak). Tons of sweet butterscotch and dark clover honey. Malty and medicinal with seasalt and soot in finish.
Earthy with white sugar sweet side, but doesn't seem to come together in the end. Tempered Laphroaig that might be good for someone who isn't hardcore into smokey scotch.
More peaty than smokey, sweeter, but this lacks the staying power of the contemporary 10 year old, which I like more (quite a bit actually). Gets too alcoholy in the finish with youngish notes.
