n: dark sherry and freshly applied wood varnish. Over-ripe strawberries, fresh cloves, old leather bound book. Some dark chocolate and graham crackers. Very nice and savoury nose, I could smell this all night.

t: Follows nose of dark red fruits and heavy ancient sherry wood. Noir chocolate and dry walnuts. Also has a dry/bitter black tea element of over steeped tea that tones down the candy fruit from the cask. This is deep and resinous whisky with a herbal spice that makes this a deep and thoughtful drink. I really like the old leather bound book in the very dry finish. This is a whisky that I really enjoy.

high A-/Almost an A

Purple stuff! Grape drank mixed with flowers.   Toasted malt mixed with cola, bitter black grape skin, and nuts (roasted and steamed peanuts).  The darker sherry notes do not translate well onto the palate for me.  Its too dry and tastes of re-used over extracted coffee grind.  It may have spent too much time in the cask.

Nose: Rich sherry

Palate:  Sweet, fruity sherry then savory with BBQ notes.

Finsih:  Bitter with a Cognac/rancio type of note.

Very complex.

Ultra dark red-purple hue. The nose is straight sherry. Palate has a fair amount of elements but at the end of the day is fairly straightforward: sweet, herbal components and deep/rich.  [7/25/14]
