Glenmorangie 12 Port Wood Finish
Added on Wednesday, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:11 AM
Sample tasted was the older "plain label" (circa 1990's) that predates the picture.
The Port Wood Finish was replaced in late 2007 by Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, which is said to be the same stuff, although the ABV differs and no age statement is given.
Member Ratings and Notes
Nose is distinct -- winey and grapey, with honey and solvent. Palate is moderately sweet; a somewhat bold malty-oaky creature. Some fruit and spice emerge, and maybe tobacco. Moderate finish. Rather whatever.
N: Lotta orange peel, glazed sugar frosting (like on a Cinnamon Bun)
P: Spicy and sweet, orange caramel candies. Big flavor.
F: More of the same.
Porty sweetness that tastes similar to sherry but with more of the winey end tastes. I like it for the most part.
Cedar chips and old wood. Red wine and ripe grapes. Slightly stale on the nose but a lot of it shows on the palate. A tad spicy with brown fruits. Some red licorice and wine in the short finish.
n: White grapes
p: Cedar and hint of acetone. Little else
