N: Sweet honey and heather with the right dash of smoke. P: Smokey malt, spice, lighter on the palate than the 18. F: Some dry oak creeps in, a little less than perfect. I've tried this previously and was more impressed, I recall the finish being a bit sweeter (and better). Look for an older bottling, I think it used to be a tad better.
Early 2000s release (50.7%): Deep golden amber color. The nose is spicy with oak, slight sweet caramel, sguar, sherry, maple syrup (a lot). The palate is not as complex but is rich. Sicy and slightly bitter with oak and caramel. A little bitter on the tongue. Decent finish. [10/13/13]
