Nose of tart smoke, very familiar Islay character, with dust and leather.  Palate is traditional, peaty Islay smoke.  Finish is short. Not a lot to say about this one.  It's good and completely-somewhat-above-average peaty stuff.

N: Powerful and peaty, with a little lemon cake.
P: Slighlty oily peat, balancing sweetness, good!
F: Fades initially but the peat lingers quite a while.

A perfectly good Laphroaig.

BORING.  Generically scotch with faint peat.  C+

retaste: summer 2011

Ok, I don't know why I didn't like it last time but this is good.  Maybe it has to open for a few years.  Hopefully the Duke (Mole) will not notice this review as I hate to admit he's right.

n:  Reminds me of a good Port Ellen with iodine and buttery cinnamon

p: red hots with a flash finish.  Fresh asphalt

B+

Fuji

Peaty with floral citrus, fresh struck matches and a bit of soap

Blind retaste: B-

N: Toasted oats, maritime with citrus

P: Initially very briney but the citrus and peat balance it out

F: Toffee
