Bacalta is the first expression from the distillery which has been finished in sun-baked Malmsey Madeira casks. Dr. Bill Lumsden had American oak casks made and heavily toasted, then seasoned with Malmsey wine and left to bake in the heat of Madeira's sun. The casks were emptied and shipped to Scotland to finish the Glenmorangie whisky, which had been matured in ex-bourbon barrels.

t: After Eight™ mint chocolates, a heap of spice, and waxy white chocolate covered mix of raisins and apricot. Quite sweet with rum cake, ripe mango, and spiced oak. Roasted almonds covered in honey in oaked middle. Caramel, eucalyptus, and honey in a rich, syrupy finish. One of the best of their yearly series. This is liquid dessert + fun! If you have a sweet tooth, this is a good one to pick-up! [B, close to B+]
