10 years in American white oak casks. Transferred into Spanish ex-Pedro Ximenez (PX) casks for two years of extra-maturation. Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX was the first release in the Private Edition range. Non chill-filtered. The word Sonnalta is Gaelic for "Generous”.

n: aroma from golden raisins, goldenrod honey, and light spice. Cigar wrapper and dry wheat bread crust.

 

t: quite malty with a balanced berry jam/fruity sweetness and a nice oaky profile. Not overtly sweet and floral like many other 'Morangie offerings. Nut mix (predominately hazelnuts). Black cherry juice and cocoa powder in the finish. The PX influence is lighter than I expected.   [B]
