N: Familiar slightly diesel-tinged Port Ellen peat with a great mix of lemon and malty sweetness. Lightly briny, faintly mineral and a touch floral.

P: Nice peat - slightly rubbery; a little tar, some black pepper, some pleasing malt, a little gentle wood.

F: Smokier on exit. A little rubber and diesel from the peat; a bit of heat, a lemony touch again and then some malt and light wood.

Super-approachable and really nicely done Port Ellen.  Everything you'd want.

Nose: Beautiful nose, briny, spicy, sea air and peat.

Palate: Very sweet and peaty, sugar coated coal (in an, er, good way).

Finish: Peat and the windy coast.

The palate was just a bit sweeter than I would have liked but overall, this was a nice whisky.
