Sweet and enticing nose, smells like a candy store and chocolate shop. Yum! Strawberries, white wine, oak, hay.
Palate is quite fruity and sweet, with chocolate and a little spice. That spice takes over in the long finish in a nice crescendo, with cashews, then oak lingering, finally growing just a tad too bitter in the very end. If it didn't do that, this would be super-stellar. But this is still great whisky and I really enjoy it. Our friends in Germany have been showcasing some cool Lochsides lately, this is another great pick. B+/A-
N: Resinous and nasal cleansing (like herbal vaporub). P: Wow, very organic, like clove and green tea. F: Lots of tea, a little tobacco. Unusual! Every so often ya come across one of these. Just as there are peat monsters and sherry monsters, I'd almost put this in a class called the organic monster. [Note: First ever use of the term organic monster in whisky world!]
