Light color for 18 years. Nose is light peat -- somewhere between Ardbeg and Laphroaig in its quality, not power. Sweet under ripe bananas, hint of gasoline. Palate is lots of peat smoke, smoked salmon.  Very tasty. Finish is salty with some wonderful white pepper.  I really liked this among 6 other Campbeltown whiskies, including some highly rated Springbanks.

N: Spicy peat.
P: Very big and peaty but there's an off note in there, like the lingering taste of pumpernickel bread.   Sort of earthy and acidic.  It's just a trace flavor, but it's one that isn't working for me.
F: It fades.
The Longrow peat is not of my favorites, this isn't the first time I've detected this odd note.   I'll ID it eventually.

Only light peat overall.  But the palate is thick and coats the entire mouth.  Nice.

Nose of lighter caramels, pears, hay, and a tinge of smoke.  The palate has a great white-sugar sweetness level accompanying generally autumn-type fruity stuff, with light caramels and toffee.  Smoke is quite light, but it emerges in the finish more, while never taking center stage in a balanced way.  As the glass drains, some burnt-sugar off-notes knock down my enjoyment somewhat.  But I find this greatly drinkable, yet no so much as to be "party whisky."  I like it quite a bit.  B/B+

For as much as Longrow is supposed to more heavily peated than Springbank, I was expecting more out of this one.  The peat is too......light.  Needs more umph in the nose and the Palate says Springer with a bit of peat....which is exactly what it is so I shouldn't be surprized right?  Well I was hoping for a peat monster and instead got a whiff.  Maybe this will get better with age but I don't think I will pay what Preiss Imports plans on charging for this in the US.

Overall, a decent peated whisky, but something was off and not particularly enjoyable.

Good dose of peat smoke initially.  This had nice briney fishy"ness" to it.  Dry hay and tea with sweet toffee make this very tasty.  A little zing of citurs creeps up on you toward the finish.

n: smoked salmon surrounded by raspberries, I get more brine and fruit than "more peated". Oil fumes and Elmers™ wood glue.

t: Lightly sweet, green pear. Has an oily, diesel aspect that I don't understand. Very light on the smoke, like burnt paper, not like I expected. Dry summer straw, dull citrus, and black tea in finish. I thought this would be more peated than regular Springbank.
