Peat peat delicious smoke.  Excellent balance from the powerful peat nose through the smoky-but-sweet body to the smoky-spicy finish that lasts nice and long.

N: Lemon and peat.
P: Clean and simple, yet so good.   Perfect peaty goodness.
F: Long and sweet, with a hint of pepper.
A classic Islay whisky.

Mild, slightly peaty nose. Oily in the mouth, peaty but smooth. A momentarily strong finish falls off pretty quickly, but then maintains for awhile. Overall a pretty good whisky, but not remarkable.

Nose is weak, with a hint of peat.  Taste is smooth, easy, even buttery at first -- but it goes nowhere.  Pleasant and likable, but totally forgettable.  A little peat helps the finish.  But this does very little for me.

Interesting.  Reminds me of a Signatory Unchillfiltered Highland Park.  Very little taste, just clean.  But a powerful finish.

Hard not to like.  A sweeter peat smoke -- lots of it, but light in style.  Makes me think of white smoke rather than dark black.  A nice sweetness underneath.  There are other better Islays, and Ardbegs, but its so drinkable.

A straight up classic from Islay.  I love the earthy peat and dusty, almost metallic background that young Ardbegs have.  I always keep a bottle of this around and I look for specific batches (bottle codes) to be sure that I get a good one.

A good go to bottle of young ardbeg.  Has the nice smokiness and medicinal qualities of a classic islay malt.  B/B+

n: peaty and medicinal, full-on phenols with more tar and rubber on top. Maritime with seabrine and smouldering beach fire.

t: follows nose with a bit of floral in the middle. Phenols and BBQ meat initially. Very tarry with a salty, medicinal body. Oily in the mouth and intense with a bit of pine resin at the end.    [B-/B]
