The nose on this gives off model glue and plastic. The palate is very LDI with mint. It starts sweet then has a bit of bitterness at the end which lasts into the finish along with some Eucalyptus notes.

Overall, I think this is the weakest of the three whiskeys in the Old Scout line (and I tend to be a rye fan). Interestingly, this one seems to have less rye character than the six year old bourbon, despite the 95% rye mashbill.

Batch 56 is damn tasty stuff in my opinion, lots of mint and funk in the nose and palate, with a creamy smooth texture.  A steal at $45 a bottle.  I bought 3 more!

n:  Mentholyptus cough drops

p:  Tad hot.  Cough drop on roids.  Hint of spearmint and very vaporous.  Fun but puts hairs on your chest.

Ries

Robust rye spice, vanilla mint, and rich buttery caramel corn. Middle is black pepper and charred oak. Long butterscotch candy finish and dill spice. Nothing too complicated but this is very tasty and fun. Runs spicy and hot. Dense flavour with a cohesive profile, I really like this.  [batch 55 reviewed, B+]
