This is the new incarnation -- the previous Dalmore Cigar Malt was taken off the market about two years ago. Dalmore says that's because "consumers were confused... did they need to have this with a cigar? What if they didn't smoke?" Once it was discontinued, they go on to say, there was an outcry among Dalmore fans for it to return.

So, this is the reformulated version, with a higher ratio of sherry casks.

Nose of circus peanuts (the candy), sweet vanilla, fresh bread and malty tones.

Palate is quite nice. Medium sweet and malty, honeyed, dried fruits in moderation. Finish has the requisite spice kick, surprisingly long, a little tobacco.

A perfect fit in the current Dalmore lineup. While it's not a revelation, it's a very pleasant malt and hard not to like. B/B+

Nose:  milk chocolate, very spicy sherry that's been left out overnight.
Palate:   Starts sweet with spices in the background and vegetal notes which continue into the finish.

The spicing on this didn't really work for me, it was savory and vegetal, with notes of soil and plants.

Dry baking spices and nutmeg.  Tannic oak, cola syrup, and cherry jam. Sherry cask influence of dark dried fruit, apricot, and thin vanilla. Nice balance between the fruit and the distillery character, but it is very one note and not exciting.  [B-/B]
