Alright, this one's a bit mysterious.  According to the Preiss website, this is a Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey, which means it was distilled (presumably in Kentucky) from a mash containing greater than 80% corn.  Then why does it say Illinois Whiskey on the label?   Well, it seems that the whiskey was matured in used oak barrels (bourbon can legally only be matured in new oak barrels) and these barrels were stored in Illinois.  It also appears to have been bottled for Preiss by the McCormick Distilling Company in Weston, Missouri, who is the owner of the fictitious business name "Hirsch Distillers" according to the Missouri Secretary of State.   The distillery that produced the whiskey is unknown.
Member Ratings and Notes
Great nose, big flavor with an interesting floral finish after the bourbon flavor. The finish is long, with the nose coming back again as you exhale.
Smooth-spicy-sweet, bourbony w/ rye. Not-too-easy not-too-hard tasty beverage.
N: Strong, floral. T: Bourbony, warm. F: Pretty smooth, warm O: Slightly above average bourbon.
Sweet butterscotch aroma, pleasant. Caramel taste, syrupy. This is a thin, uncomplex whiskey. Warm sharp bite on finish. Drinkable, but not exciting.
Fruity nose, a little pungent and sweet. Distilled apricots, light rye flavor, oily texture, moderate spice, warm finish, not overwhelming….good drink.
Paint thinner. Disappears.
N: Sweet. T: Sweet, medium-bodied. F: Warm, smoky finish.
