nose: very malty with apples and pears.

palate:  pure and elegant malty notes, slightly sweet and a tad fruity.

finish:  short, mostly malt.

summary:  easy going and straightforward, a balanced Irish that  hits all the right notes.

[new-style bottle tasted, concurrent with Yellow Spot launch]

N: Honey sweetness with a slightly more sharp and green grassy character; younger wood, younger hay. Elements of malt as well as a bit of green grapes. A faint touch of pepper.

P: Bitter, with young wood and a bit of hay, settling down a bit after a moment. A bit of wheatgrass and fresh lumber; a little light peach and some angel's food cake. A touch of pears.

F: A little light spice, some honey, a bit of maltiness and some sherry-like character as well as some light spiciness.

The bitterness ont he palate is a little too reminiscent of Jameson for this to really go anywhere for me. It's better than the average Irish whiskey, but thats not a ringing endorsement by my reckoning.
