Adam Okay, their whiskey prices are a ripoff.  And the food -- well it's pretty overpriced.  But The Ivy is The Ivy.  Great food (exception: steaks), attentive and detail-oriented service.  Kind of a twist on home-style cooking, they'l cater to your every wish, and charge you gladly for it.  If you've never been but have heard all about it, prepare to be underwhelmed.  The food is very solid, it's just the price that makes you think twice.  But I like it, as obviously do many others.  I think it's a combination of the ambiance, the food, and the cater-to-any-desire mentality that keeps this place among my favorites.  Also, an expense account helps.

My favorites are the corn chowder, the skillet-cooked calamari, black pepper shrimp, the pizza with the shrimp and whatever on it, and when they've got it, the chili.  Get an order of onion rings for the table, too.  And -- this is one of the few exceptions when I will actually recommend vodka -- get the Ivy Gimlet on a sunny afternoon.
