Well, it's nice. Present but muted peat behind a grassy and lightly fruity-floral palate. It drinks lighter than 54%, but I wish there were more going on. I’ve had plenty of Springbanks which were highly memorable (most for the right reasons), and plenty that weren’t — this one falls into the “mostly forgettable” category, though not because anything’s wrong with it. It just needs more right with it.

n: cereal in buttermilk, light lemon rind, and vanilla cream. Snuffed matchstick, dried heather flowers, barn/earthy. Saltwater taffy.

t: surprisingly sweet; lemon custard and torched merengue with grey seasalt. Middle has smoke and ash - apricot jam and dry leather on the tongue. Lemon custard donut with white sugar glaze rescued from a barn fire (light earthy peat). Long finish of root beer and candied ginger, with more of that prickly BBQ citrus smoke.  [B/B+]
