Ries

n: sweetness with a dry wood smoke, young with wet green grass, floral and more of a unique damp earth peat.

t: vegetal peat, powdered sugar, lemon drops, and honey sweetness that evolves into smoked meats, paper matches, and musty earth. Middle is full of esthers, mixed nuts, and old wax. Sweet and young with a farmy smoke. Hot and rough finish, but I see this improving vastly over time.

p:  Metallic tar.  Odd with a bad finish.

NOSE
The smokey peat comes up first, but much lighter than most Islay whiskies. Underneath the smoke are some notes of strawberry, burned corn, iodine and anise.

PALATE
Smokey peat up first, but like the nose it’s a rather light peat. Next to the smoke are some notes of vanilla, honey, brine, light fruit and of course malt.

FINISH
The long finish has a nutty characteristic that is filled with peat and malt.
