N: Big butterscotch and cinnamon nose, you can smell it while the glass is still sitting on the table! P: Big, sweet, dirty, and spicy. Moderately oily. F: More of the wheat character in the finish. Despite the Stitzel-Weller lineage, this doesn't stand up to the legendary old bottlings, it tastes much more modern (i.e. tame). But it's still quite tasty.
I smell sweet, caramelized fruit, pastries and the smell you get when you first open a can of passover coconut macaroons. The flavor is rich and clean. You can tell it's an aged wheater, but it doesn't have the chewy, oakiness you would expect in a 17 year old Bourbon. It's less layered and complex than I might have imagined, going more for a clear, clean Bourbon flavor. Good balance of sweet and wood and a nice clean finish. (Batch No. 1).
