The nose is almost tangy, if something can smell tangy, somewhat like oranges.  Honey and traces of cinnamon too.  The palate... hmm, again there are aspects of oranges in this medium-bodied tastiness.  Without being super-rich, there's a lot of character to this bourbon.  But there's also some spiritous edges to it, almost approaching hints of rubbing alcohol, that I really wish weren't there.  Still tasty bourbon, though.

Barrel no. 1642    Barreled on 4-4-81.

Rich rye on the nose, woody and sweet on the palate, dry and tannic in the finish.   A very nice bourbon.

n: fresh beernuts and toffee, the alcohol is upfront here. Nice nose, but standard bourbon with light cinnamon.

t: oaky and nice with caramel and cornbread with an honey heart. Nutty quality (pecans) and some white pepper and clove in the middle. Long but subtle finish.  [B, 2015]

n: caramel and tobacco, new pair of waterproof leather boots.

t: delicious + cohesive with brown sugar and maple syrup on corn bread.  [B+, 2017]
