Retaste: (Jun '12) I used to love this right when they switched to the new presentation in 2008, and drank it frequently. For old times' sake, I ordered a glass before dinner the other night, and yikes, something's changed. What I used to find to be a honey-green-sweet, innocuous yet delicious lowland treat has become something much more boring and, well, "stereotypically" lowland.

I'm not sure if it's the batches that have changed that much, my palate, or both. Regardless, still innocuous yet just not so delicious. B-

Previous Notes:

A really tasty easy-drinker that's mainly sweet and grassy, with spice notes.  What a very nice beverage!  It's like an all-purpose good whisky.  I think I'll test this one out at my next party-type opportunity.  A-

N: Ripe fruitiness on the border of too ripe, some organic green action.
P: Vegetal, very sweet and actually pretty good, layered, organic greens and then some peat and smoke.  Interesting combo.
F: A little funk in the finish, but overall real nice.

n: hazelnuts and dried cherries in vanilla cream. Nice nose on this, heavy on the sherry cask.

t: more sherry fruit up front, light cocoa, and floral. completely mellowed out - mostly just soft oak with distillery character stripped out from the time in the cask (not interesting). Toffee finish but nothing descriptive. Meh.  [C-/C]
