Whistle Pig Limited Edition Triple One Rye (11 years old, 111 proof, 1100 cases) takes Whistle Pig’s standard rye release (which is 10 years old and 100 proof) and adds a year to the age and 11 proof to the mix and then nearly doubles the price. WhistlePig buys their whiskey from Alberta Springs distillery.

Member Ratings and Notes
Ries

n: great nose full of burnt creme brulee and fresh pumpernickle bread. Buttery and rich with a lot of appealing spice.

t: the rye spice is well-rounded but still quite hot. Buttered rye toast with a slight chemical note in the middle with more sweetness than I expected. Finish is mostly caramel but with a good dose of oak and cinnamon. Nice rye but lacks the complexity and depth I would expect for this age.

This is an "improved" expression, but never reaches the price point. The nose is the best aspect.
