A great example of a "love it or hate it" whisky.

Smoke! Unpleasant yet pleasant, strange. Better than the sum of its parts.

Kind of a skunky pot nose, odd tangy flavor, increasingly strong blueberry in a somewhat long finish. Negative initial reaction, a strange glass, overall better than the sum of its parts.

Wet socks, plants, blue cheese. Funky finish. But oddly refreshing.  [Upgraded to B+ on 05/26/08.  Over time, I have become a big fan of this now sadly discontinued whisky.]

Decent nose. Otherwise, very poor, garbage-y taste. (Typically I really like Bowmore 17).  [This was tasted blind.]

Smells like weed.  Palate is smoky, then rancid. Very unique. Totally awful taste and smell, and yet interesting. Musky finish.  I actually like it.

So I'm reading my tasting card and it says "mildly vaginal" -- that's it.  So, yeah.  Yet somehow I gave it a...B

Smells like crap, awful taste, awful nose.  Smells like licorice and fish.  I don't want it ever again. Like Doody and Cherries. (maybe we got a "bad" batch)

Nose is mossy, licorice; strong marijuana-like taste; dried berry finish; strange and messy.

N:  Tar, smoke, iodine, new rubber

P:  For an OB this is a very unique taste.  I've had a few independent Laphroaigs that were similar.  Charcoal and tire rubber.  Dr. Shoals.  It won't be for everyone but I'm glad it exists as it's a good example of a peat "type".  Finish fades to charcoal.

The nose is cool, wet peat and coal.  The palate is Bowmore perfume with a hint of smoke.  Not much to this one, I'm afraid.

Strange and maybe FWP'ed.  This had some similarities to the "Corpse" 21 year that set this down a few levels.  The palate was not as perfumed as the nose and this got some wildly divergent ratings.  For me it was drinkable but with some less serious flaws that made it not wrthy of a higher grade.

I've had different bottlings of this and some have had lots FWP but I've also had some that were very nice. B/B- depending on FWP level
