Nose of overwhelming maple syrup.  Not like, gee I detect maple, but this is overwhelmingly maple.  Some pecans.  Palate so sweet, so smooth, great wood influence.  Finish leaves chewy oaky goodness, vanilla on the tail end.  Rich and bourbony all the way through.  Nearly deserves an A+ but just falls a hair short.

RETASTE Feb 2011: I haven't had this in a few years, and a friend's engagement gave me the excuse to crack open a bottle from my archives. Well, wow. It completely holds up to my memory of it. Maple syrup with a little bit of musk or skunk in the nose. Palate is mildly sweet, rich and delicious, with enough oak to leave you chewing in the finish... but none of it too much. So, so drinkable and awesome.

Remains an absolutely fantastic bourbon and I'm again tempted to go A+ ...but I won't. Yet.
