A pure malt blend of whiskies matured for 12 years or more at the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries. This whisky was the pride of its creator Mastaka Taketsuru, founder of Nikka and father of Japanese whisky.

n: coconut, strawberry fruit roll-up, dried pears with a whiff of burnt paper. Cinnamon on buttered wheat toast and toffee.

t: warm butterscotch, oak char, and a nice earthy smoke. Fades to vanilla and leather midway. Dry sandalwood and ash in the short finish.

I wish this was bottled at a higher ABV to bring out more depth and intensity to the flavour.
