Miyagikyo is located on the island of Honshu, two hours by high-speed train to the northeast of Tokyo. Built in the foothills of the Miyagi prefecture, at the heart of a region famous for its waterfalls and many hot springs. This site was chosen for its pure air and high humidity levels, ideal for ageing in barrels. The environment is similar to that of the Cairngorms region in the heart of Scotland.
Member Ratings and Notes
Ries

n: tan leather, green apple skins, paint thinner, and a light/delicate smokiness.

t: malty and oaky, but light bodied. In the middle the smoke appears with dried tropical fruit from the sherry cask influence. Dry oak and ash in the finish. Predominant with the sweetness, with notes of tropical fruit and smoke to create a nice balance but not a very deep whiskey.
