Nose of fruit and oatmeal, which continues strongly in the sweet palate -- kind of an oaty-sweet thing going on.  This is light and delicious whisky and has some uniqueness all to itself.  The finish could use improvement and has rough edges, but I still really like the whole package.

Closer to the American malts then the Scottish.  There is a nice sweetness (nose and taste) that hints at a tray of Christmas cookies.  Definitely something I'd like to find under my tree this December.

N: Smokey and grassy.
P: Ridiculously sweet, a very different flavor profile, organic, clove, almost minty.  Weird, but it all adds up and is really pretty enjoyable.
F: Finish is real long, some organic theme completing itself in fine fashion.

Penderyn is my emotional favorite as my family home is about 30 minutes south of the distillery and I and my cousin talked our way int the distillery while they were still building the visitor center.  As Penderyn only started distilling in 2001, they began bottling the 3 year old in 2004.  I have tried almost every expresion from Penderyn including each year's Standard.

Penderyn uses a modified/hybrid still system that combines a pot and coffee still.  They produce very pure new-make at around 96-97%.

Penderyn, even young, is making great progress.  The light fruits and grassy malt complement the heat that comes from such young spirit.  Bananas and pears along with hay and barley add to some unusual smoke and perhaps finishing sulphury notes.  Finish is hot and medium length which sems to be calming down as the years go on.  I look forward to the 10/12 year old malts when they come out.
