The nose has wine like notes, some floral notes and is almost brandy like in some ways.
The palate has licorice and mint, also some light corn syrup. It's very light with some Irish Whiskey like flavors. The finish is very short with that light corn syrup taste.

This is not bad by any mean and is certainly distinctly Stitzel-Weller (so much so that I was able to identify it as such in a blind tasting). It's quite drinkable but not at all remarkable and comparable in quality to many whiskeys available today. On the one hand, I'd say this shows that not everything Stitzel-Weller deserves to be worshiped, on the other, I'd note that if this was the bottom of the SW barrel, they were doing pretty well.

N: A little thin on the nose. Light hints of pepper and a touch of wood. Light hint of powdered sugar. A little caramel and toffee. Gently sweet.

P: Light. A watery dose of caramel, a little unflavored icing, a faint hint of sourness (but not much) and a touch of red-hot candy heat. Ever so slightly vegetal but not very.

F: A little sweetness up front, with a touch of cinnamon heat. Dries and gets a bit woody.

There's not much to this one. It's not bad, it's just bland.

Floral and sweet.  Smelled and tasted as if the flavors were artificial and engineered by design.  The older SW stock is better as there was more wheat and malt present.

n: Semi-sweet syrup

p: Creamed corn

Light golden color. A delicate nose with some caramel and a sweeter palate with caramel. Finish disappears quickly. 1989 bottling. [1/27/13]
