N: Tequila
P: Hell of a lot of flavor but there's just something a bit off, like a dark chocolate bitterness.
F: Finishes hot.
Got better as I continued to drink, good.

Good!  But then finish gets rubbery and crappy.  C+

Retaste: The aspects I used to not like are not as intense.  Is this a change in my palate, or a result of the bottle having been open for quite some time?  I don't think it's the bottle being open, as I'm pretty liberal with the Private Preserve (if you don't use this, it's an inert gas that keeps oxygen out).  Anyhow, I'm more of a fan now.  B

Musky nose, not appealing, tequila like, very odd, stale, yeasty. Definitely is better than the sum of it's parts. Finish is somewhat fleeting.

Much flavor up front.

I am a big fan of Highland Park but I have not had many OB Single casks.  This one caught my attention and it did not disappoint.  Very different from the standard expressions (aren't all single casks that way?) with a bunch of fruits with bananas, cherries, blackcurrants, and cake right out of the oven.  The wood clearly imparted some cinnamon and caramel with all-spice and honey.  There is darker, burnt rubber or heavy oil smoke in there as well but all in a good way.... The finish was rich and robust but could have lasted a bit longer.

This one is an amalgam of sherry and rubber on the nose and palate with sulphur showing up on the late palate.  These are the flavors that typically come out in a flawed HP.
