The nose on this actually has some bourbony sweetness, followed by a big hit of rye spice.  The palate has a lot of rye but is a bit tinny.  The finish is fairly bitter with medicinal notes.

Reminds me of some of the craft ryes I've had more than a traditional straight rye (which makes sense since it is 100% rye and made in a pot still).

Ahhh I like that nose, forward bourbony sweetness and downright inviting.

Palate is kinda nice, if weak. Doesn't fully hit the spot but it does the trick. But the finish is a bit too bitter, and that's the main problem here.

N: A bit thin, piney and slightly resinous. Some prickle from the alcohol. White pepper and cinnamon.

P: Thin. Initially bitter. Wood is pretty strong on this one. The rye comes up with some light floral notes after a few seconds. The heat keeps picking up too. Faintly metallic.

F: Dry, slightly bitter. Light cinnamon, faint hint of cherries. Woody but not overpowering.

The wood is out of balance on this one and really pushes against the better parts of a rye whiskey.
