Hello, sherry! A dark and secret nose, mysterious, and simply outstanding. Seems like oloroso. Old books and desk drawers.

Palate is sweet and sherried, plummy. There's not a lot of dimension here in the palate, but the finish and nose wrap it in delight. Finish is very long and, surprisingly, gets sweeter. Almost tart. And it sticks with you for a long time. Nicely balanced oak.

I'm told this was peated, but whatever peat was in here seems to have faded into mild leather-tobacco notes.

Excellent stuff and one to ponder.

N: The color seems to scream sherry, but the first nose is smoke!  Then stewed fruits, plum sauce, and candied apples.
P: Very medicinal in profile, cough drops, but clean and dry.   I was told this was peated and I believe it, there's definitely some lurking in there.
F:  Lingers on the medicinal aspects, spicy with cherry desert sauce.

Tasted blind.  Awesome sherry prescence and fruit with peaks of smoke.  I could drink this all day!

Nose:  Oloroso Sherry notes

Palate: Sweet, fruity, spicy, peppery

Finish:  Pineapple with pepper.

Ries

n: figs, milk chocolate, light sulphur. Burnt peppercorns and charred log in a fireplace. Tobacco leaf and old leather bound books. A great nose, I could smell this all day!

t: very chocolatey and tastes of dried dark fruit (cherries + prunes). This does ancient sherry well with stewed strawberry and crystalized clover honey. Slight bit of cigar smoke in the middle. With a long tobacco leaf and red berry jam in the long finish.

The nose and the finish really make this stand out. Initially it's good, but it builds and gets better with each sip and the finish is fantastic.  [B+/A-]
