This was a tricky bottle for me. The first night I cracked it open and tried it, I loved it. LOVED it. I found it bright, fruity, and "very alive," more fruity than smokey in fact. I was ready to track down every bottle I could find.

But on later tastings, I found it "just" decently good. I don't know what it was with that first tasting, but it goes to show just how much a palate can vary (to note, my other benchmark whiskies tasted the same that first night).

Anyhow, in general I've since found this still to be a brightly fruity and not-too-smokey number. Subtle complexities evolve the more I drink, and it's a fun whiskey to explore. Nothing to celebrate, but a decent and "happy" peater. Let it open up for a long while and you get coffee and chocolate along with citrus, yum.  B/B+

n: Salty and floral

p: Salt!!   Caramel dipped in salt.  Wow, wierd but strangely good.  Long charcoal finish.

Fuji

Floral and oily with anise, yeast and iodine. Finish becomes very bitter.
