Creamy malts with some warmer caramel in the nose.  Soft peat at first taste.  Almost subdued peat.  Easy to drink and very well balanced.  Something fruity in there and not at all dirty or metalic.  Very well done indeed.

Tasted blind and after seeing it is Springbank - my notes reflect a classic Springbank profile - similar to the 10 year '100 Proof' only ....more of everything here.

N: First whiff was a fruity Speysider (yipes, the spellchecker wanted me to change this word to spermicide!), slightly over-ripe, but then I think there may be some peat smoke in there too.  Roasted buttered corn.
P: Huh, not a normal profile for sure.  Moderately oily, lightly peated with a rich food taste, I swear it's sort of like cornbread.   Very odd.
F: Smoke lingers in the finish.
I like the heaviness in this malt, lots of thick flavor.

n: Vanilla ice cream.  Incredibly smooth (no nose burn).  Actually I think I'm nosing a coke-float.  Nice.

p:  Odd but good.  It's almost as if potpourri was lightly strained through it.  I'm getting that Christmassy spiced wood taste.  This is better than the boring s$%t that Springbank is sticking in it's OB bottlings these days.

Nose of petroleum stuff, burnt plastic, and stewed fruits. Palate is thick, buttery burnt caramel, moderately sweet, with obvious chocolate and a tinge of smoke. Strikes me as a brooding malt. Finish amplifies with spices and something synthetic.

This doesn't quite do it for me, the petroleum-synthetic aspects here are heavy and dominating, and aren't the kind I enjoy.
