Glengoyne's "Choice" series comes from individual workers at Glengoyne picking their favorite casks for bottling.  Ewan is a stillman who had been at the distillery 19 years when he chose this cask, which had been there as long as he had.  Distilled April 13th 1986, Bottled May 2005.  600 bottles.

Woody, a bit too much of it adds bitterness that keeps the rating down.

Extraordinarily smooth.  Subtle maple.  Brown sugar.  Mid-length finish.  A very, very solid and sophisticated whisky.  Excellent!

Thick sherry/cinnamon nose, what a great rich color.  Light smoke, thick on the palate, but easy to drink.  Complex rolling flavors and nice wood notes.

Wow, a super-syrupy nose! Sherry of course. Yummy, yummy richness. This bottle will be killed quickly. [It was indeed killed quickly].
