The nose is woody, wood paneling, wood polish, old library type stuff, a bit sweet smelling, definitely smells of old wheater, deep and thick. This thing has a huuuge, complex flavor that takes you by surprise: first a caramel-Bourbon sweetness coats your tongue, followed by some acid and then some strong wood; the mouthfeel is chewy. The finish lingers for quite a while. A little goes a long way. A fabulous, fabulous Bourbon, worth the price and then some.

Avoid water here; it breaks apart the subtle and complex composition and brings out some bitterness.

N: Fantastic!  Delicious rich smells, like french toast with maple syrup.  Cinnamon.  And some rancio notes like an old Macallan.  And something green, like breaking off a piece of an aloe plant.
P: Wow.  This is a big resinous mo' fo'.  It's like caramelized mixed wheat bread.
F: The wood carries long into the finish, but it's wrapped in organic spice (Mentholyptus) that swells with the heat from high alcohol content.
This is about as good as bourbon gets...

N: Corn, caramel and toffee in abundance. Lightly dusty and woody. Mild heat considering the ABV. Light hints of cinnamon and clove.

P: Much warmer and bolder on the palate. Strong heat, wood notable, some dark fruit like plums and light black cherries; definite corn sweetness. Mildly syrupy, and some general graininess.

F: Strong, moderate heat, and lasting, but somewhat drier than the palate. Warm, full, rich, and syrupy.

Pretty lively, doesn't show the deep age evidence that the 2010 has. Very heavy, pleasant and notable grain and corn. Really solid heavy hitter and a great nose.
