Nose of apple juice and cider, and mild smoke. The palate, wow, that's good. Powdered sugar goodness, nutty, light caramels, and the smoke that's definitely present but restrained... balanced well against everything else, which seems to be the case with these official Brora releases. Significant grassy/hay notes as well. Some cornmeal. Finish continues the theme and is quite long, smoke becoming a little more prominent, white pepper in the tails. This is one of those whiskies that just keeps getting better and better the more you drink it. Fiesty yet elegant. What a complete, balanced package. Excellent. It's Broralicious! A/A-
N: Well now there's a peaty nose (crap!, I just spilled Uigeadail all over my keyboard!) with some bacon fat. I can tell it's gonna be big and sweet. Some confection and engine smells. P: Oily but not too aggressively peaty. Same goes for the sweetness, it's there but in just the right amount. F: Peat of course and some floral aspects, tastes slightly pink (whatever that means). Yum. A great old peated whisky.
Nose of smoke, fruit, perfume. Palate has a heavy dose of smoke (of the smoked fish variety) with some sweetness. A long, smoky finish. Adding water brings out the malt; hey, it tastes like Clynelish now. One of my favorite Broras.
Ripe fruits (soft yellow peaches and nectarines) alongside warm peat. A good amount of medicinal stuff here as well. Tangy fruit and citrus are more apparent on the palate. Leaves a smoky yet waxy finish.
