Nose is a sherry onslaught, with some vegetable characteristics, and hints of gasoline.  After some time opening up, the nose becomes dominated by caramels and, uh, great stuff.  Palate of expected sherry flavors -- dried fruits, raisins, plums, dates -- and even though there's a wallop of sherry, it's still rather light in the mouth.  Very, very drinkable.  Finish is medium-long with lingering hints of light oak and dried dark fruits.  This is some great, definitely-sherried and tasty stuff, but some objectionable notes show themselves after a few sips.  After time with the glass, the finish grows somewhat more tannic and bitter, pulling the experience down somewhat.  But overall this is a relatively decadent yet very drinkable whisky, a tasty mouthful that doesn't weigh you down.  Compared to the more recent Mac 18s, there's way more similarities than differences.  It's kinda what you'd expect I guess.  B+/A-
