Well how about that, it smells like dry wheat!  As a big fan of wheated bourbons I had high hopes for this, but increasing the wheat percentage in this case doesn't increase the enjoyment.  It's got a promising profile, but its to young and rough and ultimately I don't feel drawn back to the glass.  I'd love to try a long aged version in the future.

On the nose there is some syrupy, Bourbony aroma, but also wood and wood polish. If I nosed it blind I would guess either at Bourbon or Scotch single grain, both of which sometimes include wheat, so that is sensible enough.

On the palate, it definitely reminds me of Scotch grain whiskies I've had. It's got a bit of sweetness but is not overwhelmingly so; the whiskey is very smooth with an underlying oak and a deep savory note at the end, which is similar to what I get in the more aged wheated bourbons.  B/B+

n: wheat dinner rolls with cold butter, light nutmeg, creamed sweet corn. Light and coy nose.

t: initial mellow corn sweetness tempered by the wheat content to give this a savoury balance. Middle is oaked vanilla as more of the wheat takes charge in the flavour profile. Really reminds me of those wheat rolls on Thanksgiving. Chalk and a balanced sweetness in the end makes for a nice sippin' whiskey.

Some more time in the barrel, or a higher ABV% would help this gain more depth and flavor. If this was about 52% ABV it'd be a winner.
